Brunswick Town

by

The Evelyn Smith Wray Village School Third and Fourth Graders

forest-like
blue everywhere
time to be respectful
spirits soaring
a church with four majestic walls
a port by the Cape Fear River now rocky ruins
once alive with town business naval stores
attacked by Spanish privateers
burned by the British
became a Confederate fort
huge with spiritual personality
bloody battles
big bullets can be seen
Union soldiers took over
a time of long ago
now the sand is home to alligators, fox, deer and bear tracks
come, visit and learn
listen for a musket shot

Third and Fourth Grades

October/November are busy months for our 3rd/4th Grade Class.  In conjunction with our Social Studies curriculum, “the beginnings of North Carolina”, we will travel to Old Brunswick Town and Fort Anderson.  Later in the month, we will enjoy a historic hayride at Fort Caswell.

We are working on animal tales and will make our famous swamp punch for the Fall Festival.

In math, 3rd Graders are learning place value, rounding, adding with regrouping and estimating.  4th Graders are currently adding and subtracting fractions, working with improper fractions, and dividing.

Both 3rd and 4th graders are reading chapter books.
