Academic Olympics
Create a new Olympic sport that can be performed with your classmates. Following the directions below, design and complete an Olympic booklet. Your booklet needs a cover.
Required assignments:
*Name the school mascot, the manatee. Choose a name that could be either a male or a female name (ex. Pat) Turn in your chosen name to Mrs. R-S. She will decide upon the name for our school’s mascot!
*Name your sport
*List the rules and equipment for playing
*Design and draw the uniform that represents the sport
*Narrative Writing: Tell about a time when you participated in your created sport at the Olympics. Describe the events of your participation.
*Math: Create 10 math word problems using at least three different operations necessary to solve the problems. Work the problems and include the answer key.
Optional assignments (choose 8):
*Create an event ticket for your sport
*Design and draw an Olympic torch which includes symbols that represent our ESW Village School community.
*Design and draw an Olympic flag for your school.
*Design and draw an outfit for our school mascot that could represent the ESW Academic Olympics.
*Write a legend of the ESW mascot, describing how it became our Olympic mascot.
*Draw the ESW mascot and write an Olympic themed concrete poem around the edges.
*Create a storyboard of your manatee legend. Use at least nine blocks of pictures.
*Write a commercial advertising your Olympic sport. Create props to use during your commercial. Present it to the class.
*Design an Olympic medal for your created sport.
*Design an Olympic flag for your sport. Include important symbols.
*Create a card game about your Olympic sport.
